Kansas City Chiefs Parade Shooting: One dead, 22 injured

Tragedy unfolded in the wake of triumph as a celebration turned into chaos.

At the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, joy turned to fear when gunshots echoed through the crowd. One life lost, Kansas City Radio DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, and 22 others wounded.

The shooting, located west of Union Station, erupted as fans were departing, their cheers replaced by cries of panic. Victims were rushed to nearby hospitals with 15 battling life-threatening injuries.

As authorities piece together the full extent of this horrifying incident, three suspects are now in custody, their motives unknown.

Update: Lopez-Galvan, a music lover who played at weddings, quinceaƱera and an American Legion bar and grill, lost her life at the parade.

The 43-year-old had joined an estimated crowd of 1 million people for the parade and rally. Two men are charged in her death, and two juveniles face gun charges.
